  19. After shutting down Microsoft Word for Windows version 6.0 and
  20. restarting, you minimize and close Word. A general protection (GP)
  21. fault occurs in KRNL386.EXE (the Windows NT kernel).
  22.  
  23. This problem may occur in other Windows-based applications that use
  24. object-linking and embedding (OLE) version 2.0.

  26. CAUSE

  29. The Windows-on-Windows (WOW) subsystem memory manager in KRNL386.EXE
  30. has a bug which causes an access violation.
  31.  
  32. STATUS
  33. ======

  35. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and
  36. Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in
  37. the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced
  38. Server version 3.1. For information on obtaining the Service Pack,
  39. query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without
  40. the spaces):
